India’s first 3D-printed post office would be located in Cambridge Layout in Ulsoor, Bangalore.
The project is being implemented by Larsen & Toubro, which has experience in constructing 3D-printed buildings.
It is a 1,100 sqft building which is expected to cost 30-40 per cent less than conventional buildings because of the technological intervention.

About 3D printing:-

3D printing is a process of making three-dimensional solid objects from a digital file.
It is achieved using additive processes.
In an additive process, an object is created by laying down successive layers of material until the object is created.
Each of these layers can be seen as a thinly sliced cross section of the object.

A Collective Investment Scheme (CIS), is an investment scheme wherein several individuals come together to pool their money for investing in a particular asset(s) and for sharing the returns arising from that investment as per the agreement reached between them prior to pooling in the money.
A Collective investment scheme is any scheme or arrangement, which satisfies the conditions, referred to
in sub-section (2) of section 11AA of the SEBI Act.
Any scheme or arrangement made or offered by any company under which the contributions, or payments made by the investors, are pooled and utilised with a view to receive profits, income, produce or property, and is managed on behalf of the investors is a CIS.
Investors do not have day to day control over the management and operation of such scheme or arrangement.
CISs are regulated by the securities market regulator – SEBI - under SEBI (Collective Investment Scheme) Regulations, 1999.
To strengthen the regulatory framework for collective investment schemes, Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has enhanced the net worth criteria and track record requirements for entities managing such schemes.
The markets regulator has mandated a minimum of 20 investors and a subscription amount of at least ₹20 crore for each Collective Investment Scheme (CIS).

Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (IIT-M) recently developed a device called ‘ARTSENS’ to assess the health and age of blood vessels and thereby provide early screening for cardiovascular diseases.

About ‘ARTSENS’ Device:

It is a novel, non-invasive device to assess the health and age of blood vessels and thereby provide early screening for cardiovascular diseases.

It has been developed by Healthcare Technology Innovation Centre at IIT Madras.

It is intended for regular medical check-ups, even by non-experts, to evaluate and anticipate vascular health.

It is powered by a proprietary non-imaging probe and an intelligent computing platform.

What does ARTSENS do?

It can assess the effect of molecular and protein-level changes in the vessel wall caused due to disease and ageing by measuring the material property in a completely non-invasive and accurate manner.

The device comprises pressure cuffs to be affixed at the upper arm and thighs and a probe applied to the surface of the neck to detect the carotid artery.

It measures carotid arterial stiffness, aortic pulse wave velocity and central blood pressure, all three being important markers of cardiovascular health.

Recently, the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) published Global Food Policy Report, 2023 which said that investing in early warning systems is essential to save lives, livelihoods and money.

Key highlights of the report:

The report called for a more proactive response to food system shocks with a focus on three key areas:
Crisis prediction and preparation
Building resilience before and during crises
Making crisis response supportive and inclusive of women, forced migrants and other vulnerable groups. 

It advocated for strengthening agrifood value chains to support livelihoods and food security during crises.

It advised governments to maintain a business environment that fosters flexibility, and technical and financial innovation.

Zero Shadow Days (ZSD) are the days when the sun will rise at true east and set at true west.
It is a biannual phenomenon when the sun is exactly overhead and the shadows of any object disappear for a few minutes.
A subsolar point happens when the sun is at its highest point in the sky, its rays will be hitting a particular point exactly perpendicular to the surface.
Zero Shadow Day happens twice a day at a particular place.It usually happens in the regions between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn.
When the sun is at the zenith (the highest point in the sky) its rays make the shadow of any object to be exactly under it, making it look like there are no shadows.
