Four new ‘fever’ patients were recorded in the Ryanggang province - bordering China – the DPRK locking down the region believing the cases to be infections of the “malignant epidemic,” as per state media.

North Korea had maintained a rigid blockade since the beginning of the pandemic but confirmed an Omicron outbreak in Pyongyang in May - referring to cases as “fever patients” rather than Covid, apparently due to a lack of testing capacity.

The country has blamed South Korea for the outbreak which affected nearly 4.8 million people - including leader Kim Jong Un, according to his sister.

The former movie producer has been “granted leave to appeal” by Chief Judge Janet DiFiore on Aug. 19, a letter from the state’s highest court has revealed.

The court will now decide either to uphold his conviction or order a new trial in the case after hearing arguments from defence and prosecution attorneys.

Harvey Weinstein, one of the most prominent figures named in the #MeToo movement, was found guilty of raping a former aspiring actress and sexually assaulting a production assistant in February 2020.

He is currently jailed in California - after a judge sentenced him to 23 years in prison - and awaits trial on 11 more charges of misconduct towards 5 women.

Ousted Pakistani PM Khan explained the allegation stems from a “misconstrued remark” from his chief of staff regarding rule of law.

“They [the police] abducted him, two days they kept him and tortured him - they sexually tortured him. […] I made two remarks, I said we will not spare those people responsible, i.e., the police chief and his second in command. We will take legal action against them.”

“Then, there was this magistrate, who knowing that he was tortured - still sent him back to the police. So, we said we would take legal action against the magistrate and the police. Now, this does not construe terrorism. But they are so desperate, they have made it this into a terrorism case and banned my live coverage on screen and they are trying to ban me from politics.”
