● Yogendra Singh Yadav was born on May 10, 1980 in a village in Aurangabad Ahir, Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh.
● He completed his primary education in a school in the village and after fifth grade joined Sannota Shrikrishna College, Bulandshahr.
● His father Ram Karan Singh served as a soldier in 11 Kumaon and played an important and active role in the Indo-Pakistani wars of 1965 and 1971.
● He was inducted into the 'Grenadiers Regiment' only at the age of sixteen.
● In June 1996, Yogendra joined the Indian Military Academy (IMA) Manekshaw Battalion. After completing 19 months of training at IMA, he graduated from IMA on 6 December 1997.
● Yogendra was just 16 years and 5 months old when he joined the Indian Army as a soldier.
● On 12th June, 1999 his battalion along with 14 other soldiers captured Tololing Top and during this operation 2 officers, 2 junior commissioned officers and 21 soldiers laid down their lives.
● He was part of the Ghatak platoon and was assigned the task of capturing Tiger Hill on the night of 3/4 July, 1999.
● To reach the top of Tiger Hill, the platoon had to climb a steep 16,500 ft snowy and rocky ridge of the mountain.
● Inspired by his gallant act, other members of the platoon also got inspired and captured Tiger Hill Top.
● 12 bullets hit his body; During the Tiger Hill operation, one bullet pierced his heart and 12 bullets hit his arm and leg.
● Seeing this bravery and courage of Major Yogendra Singh Yadav, the Government of India honored him with 'Param Vir Chakra'.
● Playing a key role in 'Operation Vijay', he moved to capture an army post in the Muskoh Valley.
● Although it is very difficult to believe that such a person could actually exist, Grenadier Yogendra Singh Yadav, a living example of the Indian Army, was awarded 26 Medals of Honor for his gallant and courageous acts during the 1999 Kargil conflict. In January 2000, the country's highest gallantry award 'Param Vir Chakra' was awarded to him.
● Only three living recipients of the Param Vir Chakra award are soldiers, including Bana Singh, Sanjay Kumar and Yogendra Singh Yadav.

● Rameshwar Nath Kao was born on May 10, 1918 in a Kashmiri Brahmin family in Varanasi.
● R. N. Kao did his MA in English Literature from Allahabad University.
● He joined the Indian Police Service in the year 1940 and joined the Intelligence Bureau in the year 1948.
● Along with taking charge of the Intelligence Bureau, he was first entrusted with the responsibility of protecting the prominent people of independent India. During this time he became the personal security chief of the then Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru.
● After the Indo-China war in the year 1962, the need for such an investigative agency was felt which could keep the country alert from foreign enemies.
● Kao had proved his worth during the tenure of Pandit Nehru, so Mrs. Indira Gandhi approved the idea of forming 'RAW'. In this way 'RAW' was established and Kao was appointed as the first chairman of 'RAW'.
● Kao also had an important role in the merger of Sikkim in India. He also formed the National Security Guard (NSG), a security force unit of India.
● Rameshwar Nath Kao died in New Delhi on January 20, 2002.

● Former Union Minister and former Governor of Gujarat and Bihar Nityananda Kanungo was born on May 4, 1900 in Cuttack, Odisha.
● He was educated at Ravenshaw College and University College (Calcutta).
● At Ravenshaw College, he came in contact with nationalist leaders like Harekrishna Mahtab, Navakrishna Chowdhary, Nikunj Kishore Das and Bhagirathi Mohapatra, who inspired him to join the freedom struggle.
● These students formed an organization called 'Bharti Mandir' to perform various cultural programs directly, but it was working like a nationalist organization to liberate the nation.
● After completing his law degree in the year 1920, he joined the Odisha State Bar Council as a junior to Janakinath Bose, father of Subhash Chandra Bose.
● During the Salt Satyagraha Movement in the year 1930, he was targeted by the British Government for inciting the Satyagrahis, but could not be arrested due to lack of evidence.
● When the British government was all set to confiscate the 'Swaraj Ashram' in Cuttack for non-payment of tax, Nityananda Kanungo himself paid the tax, increasing his involvement with the Satyagrahis and getting him arrested.
● His bar license was cancelled and he was jailed for six months for promoting the freedom struggle.
● After his release, he became a dedicated member of the Congress and the freedom struggle.
● He was also elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly in the year 1937 elections and became a minister.
● After independence, he was elected to the Lok Sabha from the year 1952 and served three times as a cabinet minister in the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Civil Aviation.
● He was also a member of the working committee of the Kendriya Sangeet Natak Akademi from 1952 to 1961.
● He died on July 21, 1988 after a prolonged illness.

Justice Anna Chandy
● Justice Anna Chandy was born on 4 May 1905 in a Malayali Syrian Christian family in the then Travancore State (now Kerala), India.
● She was the first woman in the state of Kerala to obtain a law degree.
● In 1956, Chandy became a judge of the High Court of Kerala, much before Dame Elizabeth Lane became the first female High Court judge in Britain in 1965.
● Justice Anna Chandy was the first woman judge of India and the first woman in the country to become a High Court judge.
● Anna Chandy is also known as 'First Generation Feminist'.
● She became the founder and editor of the magazine 'Shrimati' in which she supported the rights of women. It was the first women's magazine in Malayalam language.
● After retirement, she worked in the Law Commission of India and wrote her autobiography while being there.
● Malayala Manorama serialized her autobiography in the year 1971,which was published under the title ‘Atmakatha’ in Thrissur by Carmel Books in the year 1973.
● She died on July 20, 1996.
