The Supreme Court of India recently requested the Union ministry of environment, forest and climate change to consider launching ‘Project Great Indian Bustard (GIB)’ like one for tigers.

About

The Great Indian Bustard, found mainly in the Indian subcontinent, is the flagship grassland species of India.

It is one of the largest flying birds in the world, and India’s heaviest flying bird.

They are mainly in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan, including the Desert National Park which is the natural habitat of the species.

Grasslands of Kutch in Gujarat which is home to second-largest bustard population in India.

Arid regions of Maharashtra (Solapur), Karnataka (Bellary and Haveri) and Andhra Pradesh (Kurnool).

It is the State bird of Rajasthan.

Conservation status

Listed in Schedule I of the Indian Wildlife (Protection)Act, 1972.

Listed in Appendix I of CITES,

The National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has recently launched the ‘GHAR – GO Home and Re-Unite’.

About

It addresses the changed roles of CWCs and District Child Protection (DCPO) for children in need of care and protection.

The portal was developed by the NCPCR.

The portal has digital tracking and monitoring of children who are in the Juvenile Justice system and need to be repatriated to another country/state/district.

Digital transfer of cases of children to the concerned JJB/CWC of the State.

It will help in speedy repatriation of children.

List of Government implemented schemes will be provided, so that at the time of restoration the CWCs can link the child with the schemes to strengthen the family and ensure that child remains with his/her family. ओपन / कमेंट

About

State Wide Attention on Grievances by Application of Technology (SWAGAT) initiative of the Government of Gujarat was started in 2003.

It is an innovative concept that enables direct communication between the citizens and the Chief Minister, as also between the citizens and other functionaries of the Government.

The fourth Thursday of every month is designated as SWAGAT day, wherein the highest office in administration attends to the grievances of the common man.

There is a three-tier grievance redressal system under SWAGAT – at State, District andTaluka levels.
It is now extended to the village level also.

Grievances submitted at the taluka and district levels are first resolved by the authorities at the respective levels and, thereafter, all pending grievances are reviewed by the Chief Minister himself. ओपन / कमेंट
