The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying has launched an Animal Pandemic Preparedness Initiative (APPI) under One Health Approach to address the threat of diseases that can be transmitted from animals to humans.

About

One Health approach recognizes the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health.

The Ministry has also launched Animal Health System Support for One Health (AHSSOH) project, funded by the World Bank.

Animal Pandemic Preparedness Initiative (APPI) is in line with the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Global One Health strategy, which emphasizes the importance of multisectoral collaboration in addressing the threat of zoonotic diseases.

The initiative aims to enhance India’s preparedness and response capabilities to prevent and control zoonotic diseases, thereby safeguarding the health of both animals and humans. ओपन / कमेंट

2023-05-16 20:44:05 Startups Intellectual Property Protection (SIPP) Scheme

In News

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry recently announced that IP facilitator charges have increased by almost 50% for patent filing under the SIPP scheme.

About

For patents, the fee for application and filing has been increased to INR 15K from INR 10K.

For trademarks and designs, the fee has been increased to INR 3K from INR 2K.

SIPP scheme launched by Government of India, facilitates the start-ups to file applications for patents, designs and trademarks through registered facilitators in appropriate IP offices by paying only the statutory fees.

Any Start-Up certified by the Start-up Certification Board as having an innovative business.

For effective implementation of the scheme, facilitators shall be empanelled by the Controller General of Patent, Trademark and Design (CGPDTM).

The CGPDTM shall regulate conduct and functions of empanelled facilitators from time to time. ओपन / कमेंट

The National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has recently launched the ‘GHAR – GO Home and Re-Unite’.

About

It addresses the changed roles of CWCs and District Child Protection (DCPO) for children in need of care and protection.

The portal was developed by the NCPCR.

The portal has digital tracking and monitoring of children who are in the Juvenile Justice system and need to be repatriated to another country/state/district.

Digital transfer of cases of children to the concerned JJB/CWC of the State.

It will help in speedy repatriation of children.

List of Government implemented schemes will be provided, so that at the time of restoration the CWCs can link the child with the schemes to strengthen the family and ensure that child remains with his/her family. ओपन / कमेंट

India drafted a new Arctic policy that aims at expanding scientific research, sustainable tourism and exploration of mineral oil and gas in the Arctic region.

About the Policy

Nodal Body: India has designated Goa-based National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research to lead scientific research and act as a nodal body to coordinate among various scientific bodies to promote domestic scientific research capacities in the Arctic.

Objectives

Promoting Scientific Study of Arctic: Orient the curriculum on earth sciences, biological sciences, geosciences, climate change and space-related programmes with Arctic imperatives in Indian Universities.

Planning Explorations: Formulating effective plans for Arctic-related programmes for mineral/oil and gas exploration in petroleum research institutes

Promoting Arctic Tourism: Encouraging tourism and hospitality sectors by building specialised capacities and awareness by engaging with Arctic enterprises.

About the Arctic

The Arctic is a polar region located at the northernmost part of Earth.
The Arctic consists of the Arctic Ocean, adjacent seas, and parts of Alaska (United States), Canada, Finland, Greenland (Denmark), Iceland, Norway, Russia, and Sweden.
