Past continuous Tense (අතීත තත්කාලීන ක්‍රියා)
අතීතයේදී නොකඩවා කෙරෙන සිද්ධින් මෙහිදී විස්තරකරයි.

(Was, were + ing ) මෙහි වාක්‍ය රටාවයි.

උදාහරණ :-

1.What was your mother doing while you were coming to the class? - ඔබ මෙහි පැමිණෙන විට ඔබගේ මෑණියන් කුමක් කරමින් සිටියේද?

My mother was sweeping the compound - මගේ අම්මා මිදුල අතුගාමින් සිටියා.

2.What were you doing at this time yesterday ? - ඊයේ මේ වෙලාවේදීඔබ කුමක්කරමින් සිටියේද?

I was sleeping at this time - මම ඒ මේ වෙලාවේදී නිදාගේන හිටියේ

Talking about the future in English

We use only will or going to in order to talk about the future. However, it is very common to use the present continuous to talk about the future, in the case of arrangements that are planned

යම් ක්‍රියාවක් නොකඩවා මේ දැන් කෙරීගෙන යන්නේ නම් Present Continuous Tense (වර්තමාන තත්කාලීන ක්‍රියා) යනුවෙන් හදුන්වනු ලැබේ.

තවද මෙම වාක්‍යවල ක්‍රියාව "ing" නම් අකුරු වලින් අවසන් විය යුතුය.

උදාහරණ :-

I am Reading a book - මම පොතක් කියවමින් සිටිමි

I am teaching English to you all - මම ඔබ සැමට ඉංග්‍රිසි උගන්වමින් සිටිමි.

He is preparing the lunch - ඔහු කෑම පිළියෙල කරමින් සිටී.

They are playing football - ඔවුන් පාපන්දු ක්‍රිඩාකරමින් සිටී.

What are you doing now ? - ඔයා දැන් මොකක්ද කරමින් ඉන්නේ?

What am i doing now ? - මම දැන් මොකක්ද කරමින් ඉන්නේ?
