What?- treatment for cocaine and crack addiction- aims to disrupt the effects of cocaine by triggering an immune response in the body
How?- By preventing the drug from reaching the brain and providing the pleasurable “high” associated with its use. When injected, the drug produces antibodies as immune response. These antibodies attach to cocaine in your blood, making it bigger. This makes it impossible for cocaine to get into the part of your brain responsible for feeling rewarded or high (mesolimbic system).
