Educational services for the blind- Taken from Yojana feb 2020- a facility in Amritsar for blind in 1887
First school for the blind in India was estd in Amritsar in 1887 by Annie Sharp & shifted to Dehradun in 1903 & today is Sharp Memorial School for the Blind. After Amritsar, schools were estd in Palayamkottal, Calcutta & Bombay. By 1944 there were 32 such schools.
In 1900 American Missionary Anna Millard started first school for the blind in Bombay. It started with 3 children & received books in Braille from England. Today the school is known as Kamla Mehta School for the Blind.
