The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced that it will install seven new doppler radars in Maharashtra, including Mumbai in 2021.

IMD (India Meteorological Department):-

1. It is an agency of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, established in 1875.

2. It is the principal agency responsible for meteorological observations, weather forecasting and seismology.

Doppler Effect:-

When the source and the signal are in relative motion to each other there is a change in the frequency observed by the observer. If they are moving closer, frequency increases and vice versa.

Doppler Radar:-

a specialized radar that uses the Doppler effect to produce velocity data about objects at a distance.

Doppler Weather Radar:-

1. It is based on Doppler Effect and Doppler Radar

2. It is designed to improve precision in long-range weather forecasting and surveillance using a parabolic dish antenna and a foam sandwich spherical dome.

3. It has the equipment to measure rainfall intensity, wind shear and velocity and locate a storm centre and the direction of a tornado or gust front.

2021-06-21 09:56:10 Konark Temple (कोणार्क मंदिर)

1. Konark Sun Temple (Konark Surya Mandir) is  the temple attributed to #king_Narasimhadeva I of the Eastern Ganga Dynasty about 1250 CE.

2. Dedicated to the Hindu Sun God Surya, what remains of the temple complex has the appearance of a 100-foot (30 m) high chariot with immense wheels and horses, all carved from stone. 

3. The name Konark derives from the combination of the Sanskrit words Kona (corner or angle) and Arka (the sun).

4. According to #Kapila_Vatsyayan, the ground plan, as well the layout of sculptures and reliefs, follow the square and circle geometry, forms found in Odisha temple design texts such as the Silpasarini.

5. The temple follows the traditional style of #Kalinga_architecture. It is oriented towards the east so that the first rays of the sunrise strike the main entrance.

●The Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education launched YUVA- Prime Minister’s Scheme For Mentoring Young Authors, an Author Mentorship programme to train young and budding authors (below 30 years of age).

About:

●The launch of YUVA (Young, Upcoming and Versatile Authors) is in tune with PM’s vision to encourage young writers to write about India's freedom struggle.

●YUVA is a part of India@75 Project (Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav) to bring to the fore the perspectives of the young generation of writers on themes like Unsung Heroes, Freedom Fighters, Unknown and Forgotten Places and their role in National Movement, and other related themes in an innovative and creative manner.

●The National Book Trust, India under the Ministry of Education as the Implementing Agency will ensure phase-wise execution of the Scheme under well-defined stages of mentorship. ​

●The books prepared under this scheme will be published by National Book Trust, India; and will also be translated into other Indian languages ensuring the exchange of culture and literature, thereby promoting 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat'.

Built in the 13th century, the Konark temple was conceived as a gigantic chariot of the Sun God, with 12 pairs of exquisitely ornamented wheels pulled by seven horses.

It was built by King Narasimhadeva I, the great ruler of Ganga dynasty.

The Konark is the third link of Odisha’s Golden Triangle. The first link is Jagannath Puri and the second link is Bhubaneswar (Capital city of Odisha).

This temple was also known as ‘BLACK PAGODA’ due to its dark color and used as a navigational landmark by ancient sailors to Odisha. Similarly, the Jagannath Temple in Puri was called the “White Pagoda”.

□ ABOUT :-

◇ Government has introduced The Direct Tax Vivad se Vishwas Bill, 2020.

◇ Bill is aimed at resolving direct tax-related disputes in a speedy manner.

◇ In the last budget, Sabka Vishwas Scheme was brought in to reduce litigation in indirect taxes. It resulted in settling over 1,89,000 cases.

◇ The Vivad se Vishwas Scheme is to do for direct tax-related disputes exactly what Sabka Vishwas did for indirect tax-related disputes.

□ NEED OF SUCH SCHEME ?

◇ At present, there are as many as 4,83,000 direct tax cases pending in various appellate forums i.e. Commissioner (Appeals), ITAT, High Court and Supreme Court.

□ SPECIFICS OF SCHEME

◇ A taxpayer would be required to pay only the amount of the disputed taxes and will get a complete waiver of interest and penalty provided he pays by 31st March 2020.

◇ Those who avail this scheme after 31st March 2020 will have to pay some additional amount.
