2022-02-22 17:03:39 Today C. Raja Mohan’s article asks a prophetic question about what will be India’s stand in case Russia attacks Ukraine?

https://indianexpress.com/article/opinion/columns/india-russia-ukraine-vladimir-putin-joe-biden-emmanuel-macron-7784498/

Few Hours in to the print Russia more or less [ Definitely more] Has done exactly that!

Now India is in a difficult position to balance every thing and also keep China in mind while framing any statements.

Shubhajit Roy writes the 6 takeaways from New Delhi’s statement at the UN
https://indianexpress.com/article/explained/india-on-ukraine-crisis-key-takeaways-7785405/

India’s stand : India has asked “all sides” to intensify diplomatic efforts to reach an amicable solution at the earliest. This is again a time-tested Indian line — in which it refrains from blaming any one side for not being cooperative.

India’s diplomatic dilemma — India has very important strategic ties with Russia, and is dependent on it for crucial military supplies. Sixty to 70 per cent of India’s military hardware is of Russian-origin — and this is a consideration it cannot overlook, especially at a time when a tense border standoff with China is ongoing.

But as per Nitin Pai , Putin moved from a draw to a losing move.

The strategic costs Russia has already incurred:
1. NATO - renewed sense of purpose
2. EU - reduction in energy purchases
3. China - distancing from Russian adventures
4. Ukn & Belarus - Nationalist backlash
5. ROW - commercial & diplomatic de-risking

It seems the Chinese curse "May you live in interesting times" is coming true! #IR

Europe in state of uncertainty over Ukraine crisis

Y European union can't defend Ukraine directly..

Since Ukraine is not a part of NATO they r not bounded to confront in this issue, bcoz it will cause a great harm to their economic and strategic relations in the region...

Europe faces tough choices. As much as 50% of the EU gas supplies are from Russia. Some countries are 100% dependent and more significant economies like Germany and France, 50% and 25% dependent. There are no short-term alternatives to Russian gas. Most NATO members are recipients.

Also get some geographical aspects of location of Ukraine in this region, bordering countries, sea, rive, donbas region tec.

"The Quad remains a group of friends who share many things but not a common enemy"...

At the time if formation of Quad , many was thinking that it will act as a counter joint front for China's expansionist and aggressive policies , ...but it is observed that QUAD is just limited upto it's POSITIVE AGENDA , and not allowed any direct confront with the enemies of the partner State...more precisely to China
