India’s stand : India has asked “all sides” to intensify diplomatic efforts to reach an amicable solution at the earliest. This is again a time-tested Indian line — in which it refrains from blaming any one side for not being cooperative.
India’s diplomatic dilemma — India has very important strategic ties with Russia, and is dependent on it for crucial military supplies. Sixty to 70 per cent of India’s military hardware is of Russian-origin — and this is a consideration it cannot overlook, especially at a time when a tense border standoff with China is ongoing.
But as per Nitin Pai , Putin moved from a draw to a losing move.
The strategic costs Russia has already incurred:
1. NATO - renewed sense of purpose
2. EU - reduction in energy purchases
3. China - distancing from Russian adventures
4. Ukn & Belarus - Nationalist backlash
5. ROW - commercial & diplomatic de-risking
It seems the Chinese curse "May you live in interesting times" is coming true! #IR
