2020-12-08 07:42:13 IMPORTANCE OF SATYA NARAYAN KATHA AND ITS ORIGIN.

We all have heard and read the Satyanarayan katha. But none of us dont know the original stories that Shatanand or Sadhu or Kalavati must have heard. Also, as a habit we hear or read this katha but dont know the proper way it should be conducted.
We find its mention in Skanda puraan(Reva khand) and Bhavishya Puraan(Pratisarg parva).
Both Bhagwatam and Gita call Bhagwan Narayan as Satv or Truth. So Satyanarayan denotes this name as the one which is Truth incarnate.
The story began in Naimisharanya when Vyasji asked Sutji about a way to eliminate all the sorrows and fulfill all the desires and about who is the devta who can grant these at the same time.
So Suutji first prayed to Bhagwan Satyanarayan who is no one else but Vishnu ji. Then he remembered all his avatars. After that he narrated the story of Narad. Once while visiting Mrityulok, Naradji was pained to see the sufferings of People around. He was deeply moved by these sufferings and wanted to know the means by which we could rid ourselves from these.
So he went to Vishnu ji and after paying his respects stood in front of him. Naradji narrated the purpose of his visit.
So Bhagwan Vishnu said to him that in Satyug and Tretayug, Bhagwan eliminates sorrow in Vishnuswarup. In Dwapar he assumes different forms to help people. But in Kaliyug people get the benefit by following the four steps of Truth, Cleanliness, Tap and charity. But Truth remains the prime dharma because that is the ultimate way. So the worship of Satyanarayan Bhagwan gives one the ultimate benefit. Whatever you desire you get.
The proper method of performing this puja is to get up early in the morning and take a tulsi leaf in your hand with full thought on Bhagwan Satyanarayan after bathing. One should follow the resolution(desire or wish for which you have just taken) of Satya as we take that particular leaf in your hand. In the evening prepare a proper place for the murti or picture of Bhagwan is to be placed after erecting the four stambhs of banana leaf. Place five kalasha's in it. Place a Shaligram and bathe it with Panchamrit. Then read the following mantra
नमो भगवते नित्यं सत्यदेवाय धीमहि।
चतुःपदार्थदात्रे च नमो नमः॥
Chant this 108 times. Listen to the Katha. After this divide the prasad into four parts. First part for Acharya, second for family, third for audience and the fourth for yourself. Feed and give substantial charity to the priest. This way you can fulfill all your wishes.
Satyanarayan stories to be narrated from tomorrow onwards.....

The fourth day is Diwali is celebrated as Govardhan Puja and Bali Pratipada also known as Padava.
Govardhan Puja is celebrated as the day Krishna defeated Indra & asking people to worship the nature.
Govardhan is a small hillock situated at Braj near Mathura. People of Gokul used to worship and prepare a sacrifice to please Lord Indra as they believed that it was he who sent rains for their welfare. It has been a ritual for many years. People believed that if they do not perform this puja, Indra would get angry and there will be no rain which will lead to scarcity of grains and fodder. Bhagwan Krishna asked everyone not to follow the rituals blindly. He explained them that it was Govardhan mountain and not Indra who helps bringing rain and hence they should worship the Govardhan. People got convinced and performed the puja for Govardhan. This made Indra furious. He vented his anger upon the villagers of Vrindavan. He unleashed heavy rains and villagers had to face heavy floods as a result of his anger. Bhagwan Krishna came forward to ensure the safety of the villagers and cattle. After performing puja and offering prayers to Govardhan, Shri Krishna lifted the mountain on the little finger of His right hand so that everybody could take shelter under the hill. He lifted the hill for seven days and seven nights. 𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐁𝐡𝐚𝐠𝐰𝐚𝐧 𝐊𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐧𝐚 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐚𝐬 𝐆𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢. Indra accepted him as a supreme power. Since then, Govardhan puja came into existence.
Another belief associated with Govardhan Puja is that of King Bali who was defeated by Bhagwan Vishnu in His Vaman avatar. It is believed that King Bali comes out from Pataal Lok every year on the day of Govardhan Puja to visit his Kingdom on earth. 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐚𝐬 '𝐏𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐚' 𝐨𝐫 '𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐢 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐝𝐚' in some parts of the country.

2020-11-14 04:53:26 TEN THINGS A HINDU SHOULD AVOID WHILE USING ENGLISH LANGUAGE

1. Please STOP USING the word “GOD FEARING”

– Hindus never ever fear God. For us, God is everywhere and we are also integral part of God. God is not a separate entity to fear.

2. Please DO NOT USE the meaningless term “RIP” - Rest in peace, when someone dies.

Use “Om Shanti”, “Sadgati / Vaikuntha / Sivaloka praptirastu” or “I wish this atma attains moksha”. Hinduism neither has the concept of “soul” nor its “resting”. The terms “Atma” and “Jeeva” are, in a way, antonyms for the word “soul”.

3. Please DON’T USE the word “MYTHOLOGY” for our historic epics (Itihas) Ramayana and Mahabharata.
Rama and Krishna are historical heroes, not just mythical characters.

3. Please DON’T BE APOLOGETIC about IDOL WORSHIP and say “Oh, that’s just symbolic”.

ALL RELIGIONS HAVE IDOLATRY in kinds or forms – cross, words, letters (calligraphy) or direction. Also let’s stop using the words the words ‘idols’, ‘statues’ or ‘images’ when we refer to the sculptures of our Gods. Use the terms ‘Moorthi’ or ‘Vigraha’. If words like Karma, Yoga, Guru and Mantra can be in the mainstream, why not Moorthi or Vigraha?

4. Please DON’T REFER to Ganesh and Hanuman as “ELEPHANT GOD” and “MONKEY GOD” respectively.
You can simply write Shree Ganesh and Shree Hanuman.

5. Please DON’T REFER to our TEMPLES as PRAYER HALLS.
Temples are “devalaya” (abode of god) and not “prathanalaya” (Prayer halls).

6. Please DON’T wish your children “black birthday” by LETTING THEM TO BLOW OFF the CANDLES that kept at the top of the birth day cake. Don’t throw spit on the divine fire (Agni Deva).
Instead, ask them to pray: “Oh divine fire, lead me from darkness to light” (Thamasoma Jyotirgamaya) by lighting a lamp. These are all strong images that go to deep psyche.

7. Please AVOID using the words “SPIRITUALITY” and “MATERIALISTIC”.

For a Hindu, everything is divine. The words spirituality and materialism came to India through evangelists and Europeans who had a concept of Church vs State. Or Science vs Religion. On the contrary, in India, Sages were scientists and the foundation stone of Sanatan Dharma was Science.

9. Please DON’T USE the word “SIN” instead of “Papa”.
We only have Dharma (duty, righteousness, responsibility and privilege) and Adharma (when dharma is not followed). Dharma has nothing to do with social or religious morality. ‘Papa’ derives from Adharma.

10. Please DON’T USE loose translation like MEDITATION for “dhyana” and ‘BREATHING EXERCISE’ for “Pranayama”. It conveys wrong meanings. Use the original words.

REMEMBER, THE WORLD RESPECTS ONLY THOSE WHO RESPECT THEMSELVES!
