Ayushman Bharat Diwas is an annual event celebrated in India on April 30th to commemorate the launch of Ayushman Bharat Yojana or the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) on April 30th, 2018.
Ayushman Bharat is a flagship scheme of the Government of India that aims to provide health insurance coverage to economically vulnerable sections of society.
It is the world's largest government-funded healthcare scheme that provides an annual health cover of up to Rs 5 lakhs to over 100 million families (approx. 500 million beneficiaries) across India.
The Ayushman Bharat Diwas is celebrated to create awareness about the scheme and its benefits among the people, especially those who are eligible but have not yet availed its benefits.
On this day, various programs, seminars, and events are organized across the country to educate people about the scheme, its features, and how to avail its benefits.
