● It is a wetland and lake located near to Dibru-Saikhowa National Park in Assam.

● It serves as a natural home to wildlife and provides a source of livelihood to the local communities.

● It was declared as an Important Bird Area by the Bombay Natural History Society.

● The wetland is very important as it is home to at least 304 bird species, including a number of endemic ones like Black-breasted parrotbill and Marsh babbler.

● It is located in Arunachal Pradesh.It was notified as a sanctuary in 1989 under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.

● The sanctuary conjoins Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary to the southwest.

● The sanctuary is a natural home to more than 236 species of orchids, as well as a wealthy diversity of mushrooms and other medicinal plants.It is also the only one of its kind in the country, where orchid flowering plants grow wild.

● What is it? It is an international effort to build the world’s largest radio telescope. Once constructed, it will not be a single telescope but will be an array of antennas strategically designed and set up in South Africa and Australia.

● Headquarters: The operation, maintenance and construction will be overseen by an observatory headquartered and controlled from the UK.

● It is a United Nations body that was established in 2006.

● Its mission is to promote and protect human rights around the globe as well as investigate alleged human rights violations.

● The council also carries out the Universal Periodic Review of all UN member states which allows civil society groups to bring accusations of human rights violations in member states to the attention of the UN.

● The council has 47 members elected on a regional group basis from 5 groups.

● The members are elected for a period of three years with a maximum of two consecutive terms.The members meet around three times a year to debate human rights issues and pass non-binding resolutions and recommendations by majority vote.

● Headquarters: Geneva, Switzerland.
