For those who were not able to clear Mains and constantly struggling with Mains : save this Post and keep reading it for next 1 year. I hope next year you will be on other side where you will be reading posts for interview prep.
Not claiming that I have data of all the candidates who have cleared the Mains. Just sharing from SOMP students data, who have cleared Mains.
How tough is it to Clear Mains ? :
Let's assume If 100 students have cleared Mains:
1. Around 60 are those who are seasoned players. Means who are constantly clearing Mains.
They have reached to that level that failing in Mains won't happen with them.
2. Around 20 students are those who were missing cutoff earlier by a margin and worked hard to cross the cutoff . Margin means 10-20 marks less than cutoff.
This time they're in the list.
3. Only around 20 students have cleared Mains in their very first Mains attempt.
Out of these 20 , 10 candidates were very well prepared for the Mains , was just waiting to get a chance to write Mains. Other 6-7 cleared by putting very tough fight to finish Mains syllabus between pre and Mains period.
Rest around 3 cleared by god's grace. It's not that they didn't work hard but God was really kind to them.
My simple point is entering into this league where you clear Mains after repeated failures is very very tough and require very good amount of self analysis and dedicated hard work. Because out of 100 around 60 seats are not available for you and every year will not available for you. In rest 40 you have to find where you fit in.
