As the Taliban sexually enslave women and girls, the world must not turn a blind eye.

2021-08-17 10:30:04 In the early 1990s, before the Soviets withdrew from Afghanistan, the Taliban, which means "students" in Pashto, gained prominence in part because many of its members had trained in traditional Islamic religious schools. Despite international condemnation, the Taliban introduced a strict interpretation of Sharia that included amputations for thieves and public executions for murderers. Girls who are over 10 were discouraged from attending school and were almost entirely shut out of public life.
On April 2, 2020, the Taliban and the United States signed a peace agreement and entered power-sharing negotiations. Despite this, little has been achieved in the intra-Afghan talks. As a result of the US pulling out of Afghanistan, Taliban-controlled areas expanded dramatically.
In the wake of a series of astonishing territorial gains, the Taliban have now taken over Kabul. It is predicted that the Taliban will occupy Afghanistan. Whether we like it or not, it's true. By doing this, they would reverse every achievement Afghanistan has had over the last century. Any opposition to them will result in subjugation, imprisonment, or execution. This breaks my heart. Sorry, but I'm not surprised. The majority of my sympathy goes to women, who will undoubtedly suffer from these changes.
Taliban rulers are free to choose whether they want an Islamic dictatorship. Secular democracy is their choice if that is what they want. The battles they fight must be on their terms.
It is clear from this that India does not wish to engage in Afghanistan's internal conflict. Moreover, our former PM Rajiv Gandhi sent troops to Sri Lanka to achieve peace between the Tamil rebels and the government of Sri Lanka. Ultimately, our troops were forced to fight both the SL Army and Tamil rebels. Ultimately, we had no choice but to withdraw with embarrassment. Consequently, India does not wish to fight another war of attrition. As for India only cares about its trade route that starts from Iran's Chabahar port, runs through Afghanistan's northwestern region, and then ends in Central Asia.
Unfortunately, the president has fled, and the government is in collapse. When the Taliban took control of Badakhshan and Takhar, they ordered local religious leaders to provide them with a list of girls over 15 and widows under 45 for "marriage" with Taliban fighters. The compliance status hasn't been confirmed yet. Women and their families have fled and joined the ranks of internally displaced persons as a result of this order, adding to the humanitarian disaster unfolding in Afghanistan. Within the last three months alone, more than 900,000 people have been displaced. In addition, the Taliban have hinted that they intend to deny girls education beyond the age of 12, disallow women to work, and reinstate the compulsory guardianship law. By offering "wives," the Taliban can entice militants to join them. Sexual slavery is enslavement, not marriage, and turning women into slaves is as much a crime against humanity as it is a war crime. According to Article 27 of the Geneva Convention:

In order to prevent further atrocities against Afghan women, the UN must act immediately.
For bringing about enduring peace, I recommend four policy actions for the international community. In fact, Resolution 1820 stresses the importance of including women in all peace processes and condemns violence based on gender against civilians during conflicts:
Peace can only happen in good faith if there is an immediate ceasefire.
Assuring the protection of Afghan women's rights - as outlined in Afghanistan's Constitution, national legislation, and international law.
Affirming the importance of meaningful participation of Afghan women in peace negotiations. At present, the Afghan government has four women peace negotiators, while the Taliban's has none.
The Taliban's commitment to ensuring women's rights must be a condition for levying sanctions against them. Aid to Afghanistan must be conditional on women's rights, education, and employment, which are currently the main concerns among European Union a
