Quality Council of India (QCI) was set up in
1997 jointly by the Government of India (
GOI) and the Indian Industry represented by the three premier industry associations i.e. (
ASSOCHAM), Confederation of Indian Industry (
CII) and (
FICCI).
● Headquartered in New Delhi.
● The
Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion is the nodal agency for implementation of QCI of the
Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
● By providing
national accreditation structure, QCI certifies the quality and thus facilitates trade and business across the world.
● QCI is a
non-profit organization registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860.

Quality India- Is QCI’s Quarterly publication.
● Among the few very
widely represented bodies; It is governed by a
Council of
38 members with equal representations of government, industry and consumers.
● The
Chairman of
QCI is
appointed by the
Prime Minister on the recommendation of the industry to the government.
