Today I want to share three main locations in Kuala Lumpur, where you can enjoy tasty various street food .
The first of them is, of course, Chinatown. Grilled kebabs and wontons, Chinese soups, and fried noodles. You can not compare it with Thai night markets but still find a lot of tasty things here. Besides, there are vibey decorations, red lights, and advertisements in Chinese – Chinatown can be considered a landmark itself.
The other remarkable place is a bazaar with local food (which is a combo of Indian and Indonesian cuisine) across Masjid Jamek – the central mosque near the palace of sultan Abdul Hamad. The average price of the dish depends on the portion – rice costs around 5 ringgit (1,2$) while side dishes 2-3 ringgit depending on the portion (0,5$). This price is cheap for Kuala Lumpur – and food is various and full of flavor with lots of spices. Especially recommended are small samosas with filling from curry and meat . While the drink that we had there was like syrup with water .
Finally, there is a Bukit Bintang area and street Jalan Alor nearby. There we went for kunafa – a Turkish dessert from thin stripes of pastry, fried with honey and filled with mozzarella cheese with an ice cream topping. Here you can find it in several points . Moreover, there are a lot of cafes with coffee.
Also, it is worth mentioning Little India district – there you can find nice local food, but it is slightly chaotic, and there is no menu, so we could not really figure out, what we can order, and how. There is also a food truck market – but it is expensive for street food – and a Thai market near the Ibis City Center hotel – it is small and expensive too, though nostalgic.
