1) Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia won the bronze medal after defeating Daulet Niyazbekov of Kazakhstan in the men's freestyle 65kg category. The second seed, who faced a crushing 5-12 defeat to Azerbaijan's Haji Aliyev in the semifinals, redeemed his campaign as he earned India's sixth medal of Tokyo 2020 with a clear 8-0 victory in the bronze medal bout.

3) The Secretary of the Department of Sciences and Technology Ashutosh Sharma has been given the additional charge of Secretary Ministry of Earth Sciences.
➨The decision has been taken by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

4) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched the 'Vatsalya Yojana scheme' for the welfare of children affected by the death of a guardian due to COVID-19 or other diseases.
➨Under this scheme, the beneficiary children will get Rs 3,000 every month. Along with financial assistance to all the beneficiary children, education and health facilities will be provided to them.

5) Chitkara University, Patiala, has been recognised as the 'District Green Champion' for Patiala district for the academic year 2020-21 by the Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE), Ministry of Education, Government of India.
