Govt of India's Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) cleared to procure 56 Airbus C-295 military transport to replace the Indian Air Force’s ageing fleet of Avro-748; 16 aircraft will be delivered in flyaway condition from Spain within 48 months of signing of the contract, 40 of which will be built here in India by the Tata Group, The deal is expected to be worth $2.5 billion.
