You might have missed this in the Irish Times as it's behind a pay wall. Read the last sentence.

>Deportations from Ireland were paused during the Covid pandemic and have not been resumed. It takes between 17 months and two years for a first determination to be made on asylum status. However, if the person appeals, the process can take up to five years, during which time the person is entitled to remain in the State.

We already knew that in 2017, the Justice Department offered a blanket amnesty to all asylum seekers who were in the system for over five years with out informing the public. But now it appears to have been a rolling amnesty and all asylum swindlers just have to appeal their failed application, run out the clock for five years and they're guaranteed their residency.

To make matters worse, all current asylum seekers in the system for over two years can apply for Helen McEntee's blanket amnesty for illegals which has been open since January and will be closing in July. If they miss out on that bonanza, they just have to wait another three years.

Sickening and all implemented by "the party of law and order".
