Yamuna River The Yamuna, is the
second-largest tributary river of the Ganga and the longest tributary in India.
It
originates in Yamunotri Glacier in the lower Himalayas in
Uttarakhand.
It
merges with the Ganga at Triveni Sangam, Prayagraj, which is a
site of the Kumbh Mela, a Hindu festival held every 12 years.
It
passes through states such as uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi.
Tributaries :
Left - Hindon, Tons, Giri, Rishiganga, Hanuman ganga, Sasur Khaderi
Right - Chambal, Betwa, Ken, Sindh, Baghain.
Yamuna is one of the
National Waterways of India, designated as NW110 in Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
