HOW EC DECIDES ON PARTY SYMBOL?
- Election Symbols (Reservation and Allotment) Order, 1968
- Above act empowers EC to recognise political parties and allot symbols
- Under Paragraph 15, EC decides on disputes raising out of claim of name and symbols
- SC upheld its validity in Sadiq Ali and another vs. ECI in 1971
- As per the Election Symbols Order, 2017- symbols are either reserved or free

Article 72 → Pardoning Power of the President
- Pardon → Completely absolves the offender from all the punishment and conviction.
- Reprieve → Temporary stay on execution of sentence .
- Respite → Awarding a lesser punishment on special grounds.
- Remission → Reduce the length of the sentence without changing its character.
- Commutation → Substitution of one form of punishment for another which is lighter.
