He has received the 'Governor of the Year' 2023 Award from the international publication Central Banking.

Shaktikanta Das has been granted the award because he steered the financial markets through multiple crises.

These crises include the pandemic and inflation caused by the war in Ukraine.

Former governor Raghuram Rajan was the first Indian to be granted this award in 2015.

Das is currently in his second term as RBI governor.

He is the 25th governor of RBI.

He was appointed RBI governor in December 2018.

He is an IAS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre.

He was preceded by Urjit Patel as RBI governor.

In 2021-22, India's milk production registered an annual growth rate of 5.29 %.

The total milk production was 221.06 million tonnes in FY22.

Rajasthan (15.05 %), Uttar Pradesh (14.93 %), Madhya Pradesh (8.06 %), Gujarat (7.56 %) and Andhra Pradesh (6.97 %) are the top five major milk-producing states.

The total egg production stood at 129.60 billion in 2021-22.

It has increased by 6.19 % as compared to the previous year.

Andhra Pradesh (20.41 %), Tamil Nadu (16.08 %), Telangana (12.86 %), West Bengal (8.84 %) and Karnataka (6.38 %) are the top five major egg-producing states in India

In 2021-22, the total meat production in India stood at 9.29 million tonnes.

It has registered an annual growth of 5.62 %.

Maharashtra (12.25 %), Uttar Pradesh (12.14 %), West Bengal (11.63 %), Andhra Pradesh (11.04 %), and Telangana (10.82 %) are the top meat-producing states in India.

2023-03-18 10:20:23 Energy demand of Indian Railways

The estimated energy demand of Indian Railways is expected to be around 8,200 Megawatts (MW) in 2029-30.

To achieve net zero carbon emissions, the expected requirement of renewable capacity by 2029-30 would be around 30,000 MW.

By February 2023, about 147 MW of solar plants and about 103 MW of wind power plants have been commissioned.

In addition, about 2150 MW of renewable capacity has also been tied up.

Indian Railways plans to progressively procure renewable energy through various power purchase modes for its future energy requirements.

Contribution of railways towards combating Climate Change

Indian Railways has adopted an integrated approach to green transport to increase the total share of Indian Railways in land based freight traffic from the present 36 per cent to 45 per cent by 2030.

Indian Railways is setting up Dedicated Freight Corridors (DFCs) across the country. 

Its first phase is estimated to reduce emissions by about 457 million tonnes over a period of 30 years.

The traction diesel fuel will use 5 percent blending of biofuels.

Water use efficiency will be improved by 20 percent by 2030.

Plantation will be done to increase carbon absorption, there will be emphasis on waste management and pollution control.

INS Dronacharya is a training establishment of the Indian Navy located in Kochi, Kerala.

It was commissioned in 1989 and provides training to naval personnel in various technical fields.

It also conducts research and development activities in the field of marine technology and provides consultancy services to the Indian Navy and other organisations.

INS Dronacharya has played an important role in the training of the submarine arm of the Indian Navy and is named after Dronacharya, the renowned warrior and teacher.

Started its career when no one believed in it except a few including Vikram Sarabhai & Homi Jehangir Bhabha.

Everyone laughed at it in its initial phase due to its failure but ISRO showed everyone what it takes to taste the success. And the path to success goes through the streets of Patience, Hard work & Perseverance (on a lighter note: not the Perseverance rover of USA :) though our MOM mission was one of its kind in the world)

We often find ourselves involved in harsh situations, which can be due to our economical condition, background or support but friends always remember ISRO also faced all these hardships.

So, be like ISRO and channelize all your energy in right direction to achieve the dream of your life as ISRO did by making India an emerging Space super power from scratch.

It is a sub-species of Asian Wild Ass, i.e., Equus hemionus.

Scientific name: Equus hemionus khur

It is characterized by distinctive white markings on the anterior part of the rump and on the posterior part of the shoulder and a stripe down the back that is bordered by white.

Distribution: World’s last population of Indian WildAss is restricted to Rann of Kachchh, Gujarat.

Habitat: Desert and grassland ecosystems.

Conservation Status:

IUCN: Near threatened.

It is a Central Sector Scheme, which is formerly known as National Action Plan for Senior Citizens.

Its vision is to create a society where senior citizens live healthy, happy and empowered life.

It has two components – the Integrated Program for Senior Citizens (IPSrC) and the State Action Plan for Senior Citizens (SAPSrC)

IPSRC: It entails setting up homes to improve the quality of life of senior citizens, especially indigent senior citizens for writing basic amenities.

SAPSRC: Each state/union territories expected to frame its own action plan for the welfare of senior citizens.

Under IPSrC component grant in aid is provided to NGOs/ Voluntary Organisations (VOs) for running and maintenance of old age homes, Continuous Care Homes.

Five schemes have been launched under this umbrella scheme:

Poshan Abhiyan for elderly

Livelihood and skilling initiatives for senior citizens

scheme on promoting silver economy

Awareness generation and capacity building for welfare of senior citizens

It has been launched as a National Mission called “National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy (NIPUN Bharat)” in 2021.

Aim: To ensure that every child in the country necessarily attains foundational literacy and numeracy by the end of Grade 3, by 2026-27.

A five-tier implementation mechanism will be set up at the National- State- District- Block- School level in all States and UTs, under the aegis of the centrally sponsored scheme of Samagra Shiksha.

It is one of the components of the NEP 2020.

Implementing agency: The Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education.
