TRADITION OF PLAYING COLOUR(GULAL) IN HOLI MENTIONED IN SCRIPTURES
Here here is the reference from Garg Samhita.
It says that Radha and her sakhi's. It says that the sakhi's inform Radha about Krishna's arrival in their village Barsaana for Holi. They then go on describing his looks, attire and demeanour and insist Radha to come with them.
When Radha agrees, they all go together singing and sprinkling abir and GULAL everywhere. When they see Krishna, the sakhi's go and start colouring his face.
Krishna's leela makes every sakhi feel that Krishna is exclusively playing Holi with them.
Radha takes out kajal and applies it to Krishna's eye. In return, Krishna gifts her his new dupatta.
