Qualification in Details:1. Applications are invited for 05 JRF positions for the project “Establishing the State Climate Change Centre (SCCC) in the State of Gujarat” under the National Mission On Strategic Knowledge for Climate Change (NMSKCC). The project is funded by Department of Science and Technology (DST) through its Climate Change Programme (CCP).2. The JRF will be needed in the following thematic areas of this multidisciplinary project:
(i) Water Resources/ Agriculture – 02 JRFs
(ii) Forests and Biodiversity – 02 JRFs
(iii) Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency – 01 JRF3. The project activities will be jointly carried out at Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) and Gujarat Ecological Education and Research (GEER) Foundation, Gandhinagar. Since this is a multidisciplinary project, candidates will have the opportunity to interact with faculty members and researchers with specialisation in different aspects of climate change and its impacts.4. Duration: Total project duration is five years. All positions will be for one-year duration, which can be extended up to a maximum duration of one more year (upto March, 2022) on the basis of satisfactory performance and availability of project fund. Essential qualifications:1. Water Resources/Agriculture/GIS/Photogrammetry analyst: Post graduate degree in Earth Sciences/Environmental Sciences/Agriculture Science Hydrology/Climate change/Geospatial Engineering/Statistics or related area, or graduate/post graduate degree in Civil Engineering/Environmental Engineering/ Hydrology/ Remote Sensing & GIS or related area.2. Forests and Biodiversity: MSc in Ecology/ Wildlife Sci/ Forestry/ Botany/ Zoology/ Life Science or equivalent with valid GATE/ NET cards OR selected through valid national level examinations conducted by various GoI level scientific / research institutes3. Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency: Graduate/post graduate degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical or Environmental Engineering or related areas. Candidates with experience/demonstrated interests in
energy systems and/or thermal and fluid sciences will be preferred. Candidates should have valid GATE/NET card. Candidates selected through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institution such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER etc will also be considered.4. Responsibilities and Duties: JRF will work in their particular focus area of the project. It is expected that JRFs will also interact with other project staff members (RA and JRFs working in different thematic area) and help each other to
achieve the desired results in this multidisciplinary project. The project work will provide a good learning opportunity to all JRFs to understand various aspects of climate change impacts.5. Salary: Rs. 31000 (+ HRA, if applicable)
