1) India was re-elected to the U.N. Human Rights Council for the 2022-24 term with an overwhelming majority in the General Assembly.
➠ India got 184 votes in the 193-member assembly, while the required majority was 97.
➠The 76th UN General Assembly held elections for 18 new members of the U.N. Human Rights Council who will serve for a period of three years, starting in January 2022.

2) Indian captain Sunil Chhetri broke legendary footballer Pele's record during a match against the Maldives in the ongoing 2021 SAFF Championship
➠ Pele had 77 goals for Brazil, and Chhetri surpassed the Brazilian legend in the 62nd minute of the encounter against the Maldives.

3) MS Dhoni became the first player to captain in 300 T20 games. Dhoni achieved this feat when he captained Chennai Super Kings in the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Dubai International Stadium in UAE.

4) UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced that the seven aspirational districts in the state had figured in the list of top 10 in the national July-August 2021 “delta ranking”.
➠Seven districts are Fatehpur, Siddharthnagar, Sonbhadra, Chitrakoot, Shravasti and Chandauli.
➠ “Delta ranking” is a ranking done by NITI Aayog of all the 112 aspirational districts in the country and the ranking rates incremental progress made by these districts in various development areas.
➠ Aspirational districts’ programme was launched in 2018 by the Centre for transforming these districts.

5) The Government of India has accorded ‘Maharatna’ status to the state-owned Power Finance Corporation Ltd (PFC).
➠Incorporated in 1986, PFC is the largest infrastructure finance company dedicated to the power sector under the administrative control of the Ministry of Power.

6) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin launched the preliminary work to melt into 24 carat gold bars, the unutilised jewellery in the possession of the temples in the State.

11) World Steel Association (WSA) has elected Sajjan Jindal, Chairman and Managing Director of JSW Steel Ltd, as Chairman for the year 2021-22.

12) China sent its first solar exploration satellite into space from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in northern Shanxi Province.
➠ The satellite was launched aboard a Long March-2D rocket and entered its planned orbit successfully.

13) The Reserve Bank of India approved re-appointment of Amitabh Chaudhry as managing director of private sector Axis Bank for a period of three years. The extended three-year term would be effective from January 1, 2022.
